Vassar Today

Modfest 2006

The fourth annual Vassar Modfest will take place on the weekends of January 27–29 and February 3–5. The mini-festival will include music, dance, poetry, and art created during the past hundred years, much of it during the past decade. Vassar students, faculty, and outside guests will all participate. Among the features will be a recital of student music performances with student poets reading and student artwork on display. There will be a concert by a professional chorus conducted by Christine Howlett, conductor of the Vassar choral ensembles. Those ensembles will join with the Mahagonny Ensemble (pictured) in another concert; the Vassar Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Vassar Madrigals will team up for still another. Vassar Repertory Dance Theatre will give a recital of works in progress. The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center will open an exhibition of art of the 1960s, including works by Warhol, Rauschenberg, Frankenthaler, Johns, and many others.
