In the Winter 2010 timeline charting the history of access at Vassar, we incorrectly identified the subjects of the photo representing 1926 as children from the Wimpfheimer Nursery School. The 1950s photo actually showed members of the Mighty Mites basketball team during a game in the MacCracken Gymnasium at Lincoln Center, then a community services center in Poughkeepsie. William Houghtaling, shown with the team, served as coach and athletic director. He is the father of Christina Houghtaling ’74, who brought the error to our attention. The MacCracken Gymnasium was named for Marjorie MacCracken—spouse of Vassar President Henry Noble MacCracken—an ardent supporter of the center. Read more about Poughkeepsie’s Lincoln Center.
In the Spring/Summer 2010 “Day in the Life of Vassar” issue, page 26, we incorrectly identified the student Daniel Schwartz ’11 as Abby Falk-Rood ’11.
