Vassar girls with a strange array of faces on a stage with a festive backdrop? As this picture from 1942 proves, Vassar has long been at the forefront of experimental theater. That tradition continues today with the yearly Powerhouse Theater program that each summer attracts award-winning playwrights and recognizable faces to the campus, and, of course, with the many student productions that appear each term. In this picture, a group of students act in a play called Your Number’s Up.—D.S.
