Mea Culpa

When members of the class of 1955, who celebrated their landmark 50th reunion this past June, received their Fall 2005 VQ and turned to the reunion wrap-up, they were surprised to find no pictures from their celebrations. The VQ would like to apologize for leaving out these vibrant alumnae who “Make a Difference.” 1955 structured some of their reunion activities around the panels “’55 Makes a Difference in Medicine” and “’55 Makes a Difference in the Environment,” each featuring members of the class who have devoted their energy and expertise to these causes and professions. They further showed their commitment to the environment as a class by purchasing wind power equivalent to their power usage on campus for reunion weekend to put back in the energy grid.

But it was their commitment to their alma mater that really made 1955 shine during reunion. In addition to opening and dedicating officially the Class of 1955 Multipurpose Room in the College Center—fully renovated now thanks to classmates’ gifts—1955 celebrated a 91% participation rate toward their 50th reunion gift, for a grand total of $5,403,443. Thanks to all the volunteers and 111 alumnae participants and 48 guests who made this a weekend that Made a Difference!
