“No drug is either ‘bad’ or ‘good’ but using makes it so,” said Timothy Leary on March 3, 1968, when he gave a lecture at Vassar entitled “Conflict of Men and the Use of Drugs in Modern Society.” Leary had been so eager to speak to Vassar students that he waived his usual $1,500 fee. The lecture came after Leary expressed interest in an interview with Elizabeth Dick Smith ’68 and Charlotte Kirk Reynolds ’69 for The Miscellany News. Remember the lecture?
