Each May, Vassar students are not only required to face the seemingly impossible task of dismantling what has become home for the past nine months, but also forced to figure out what exactly to do about all that extra, mysteriously accumulated stuff. This Vassar yard sale of sorts seems to be a predecessor to a newer Vassar tradition, SWAPR (Students With A Purpose: Recycling), in which students can discard items at the end of the semester to be resold in the fall to returning students. Just as in this photo, bookshelves, chairs, and bargain-hunting Vassar students can easily be found. SWAPR, however, is held outside. With all that heavy lifting, it’s nice to get a breath of fresh air.
