Anne Buckingham Young ’69, MD-PhD, is chief of the neurology service at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Julieanne Dorn Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. Her research has concentrated on neurotransmitter systems in the basal ganglia and their role in Huntington’s, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s diseases. Her team examines the pathophysiology of such neurodegenerative maladies and tries to find effective therapies for them. Dr. Young received AAVC’s Award for Distinguished Achievement in February.
